Against the mini-skirt
A mob assaults and attempts to undress a woman caught wearing a mini-skirt on the Mbarara-Masaka road on 27 July 2013, following misinterpretation of a proposed law to ban miniskirts in Uganda. The police later dispersed the crowd.

Nakivubo Park Yard Fire
A military police fire brigade truck driver points a gun at a civilian whom he accused of throwing stones at fire fighters during a fire at Nakivubo Park Yard on Wednesday 4th December 2013. The police blockaded the site, a busy market, in an effort to effectively manage the fire and save the lives and property of traders, but angry crowds desperate to save their wares soon became rowdy. This was the third time in five years for the market caught fire. The civilian pictured was arrested but later released with no charges.

Mayor of Kira town Council survives mob justice during a land dispute
The Mayor of Kira Town Council, Mamerito Mugerwa (R, on ground) is rescued by security operatives after angry crowds in Kasokoso threw stones at him on December 30, 2013. He had gone there to chair a meeting between residents and the National Housing Corporation, which claims to hold the land title to the land the residents live on.

Giving birth in a bush
Lucia Longole, from Napak district, looks at her newborn baby boy after she gave birth unexpectedly in the bush outside a primary school on 29th December 2013. She was waiting to collect a donation of clothes for her five children when she suddenly developed labour pains and gave birth with the help of a traditional birth attendant.
