The Pearl Of Africa Rally is the biggest event in Uganda’s motorsport calendar, attracting not only local crews but also teams from across the region and as far afield as Zambia and elsewhere.

Express Fan
Fans go wild as Express FC scores a crucial goal to escape being relegated to the FUFA Big League, during a match that was the most trying moment of the club’s 61 years of existence. The Red Eagles out-muscled a hard battling Masavu FC 1-0 at the lakeside Fisheries Training Institute playground in Bugonga, Entebbe, on the final day of the 2017/18 Uganda Premier League, May 25th 2018. Striker Alfred Leku struck the most important goal of the season in the 58th minute, in a tense, exciting duel watched by a capacity crowd. The final whistle was greeted with wild celebrations, and fans even broke down the wire mesh perimeter fence as they raced to congratulate their heroes.
Express Football Club, nicknamed “mukwano gwabangi” or “friends of many”, is Uganda’s oldest club. It was founded in October 1957 by the management of the Uganda Express Newspaper with Jolly Joe Kiwanuka at its helm.
