On the morning of March 10, 2019, a Boeing 737 max plane operated by Ethiopian airlines took off from Addis Ababa to Nairobi. Six minutes later, however, the flight crashed near the town of Mojo killing all 157 people on board. On 17th March, a funeral procession was held for the victims at the Holy Trinity Cathedral Church in Addis Ababa where families, friends and relatives of the deceased Ethiopian passengers and flight crews attended. Following the tragic loss, families of victims in different countries filed a lawsuit against Boeing and the Ethiopian airlines reported that the fatal crash was a result of a wrong system activation. Boeing issued an apology. All 737 Max planes have been grounded globally to date and families have rejected the company’s for a total of $100million in compensation.
